Campaign photography is a powerful image that gives a message for a cause.
People are busy and don’t have time to read a big article. They spend their time surfing the internet on their mobile device so a photograph needs to catch their attention and say a lot with just a image.

Micheal Indresano Photography created this advert for Rhode Island Coalition Against Domestic Violence saying that real men don’t punch women.
I think this image is powerful because it shows that woman could sometimes be used as a punch bag and how wrong that is.
The photo has a large depth of field. The photographer has removed the background from this image, probably using Photoshop. I think he would have taken this shot in a studio.
The colours black is being used as the punching bag because it represents cold, blood, violence.
Green is being used as the dress because it represents beauty and freshness as if the photographer is used the message beauty gets beat.

This campaign is encouraging people to ring this number to help them stop smoking.
This photo is telling me that if you smoke you could die, comparing smoking to committing suicide. Smoking can cause lung cancer.
Everything has a large depth of field. The photographer probably took this photo using a black coloured screen for the background in his studio. He subtly added the text to offer more details about the campaign without distracting you from the powerful image.
Chris Thornton made this picture to help mums stop smoking around babies. About a year ago Chris Thornton had an idea for this photo and he only just got around to shooting it.
This photo is telling me that if you smoke around babies you can risk their health and put then at risk of getting illnesses like lung cancer or heart disease and become addicted to smoking.
This photo is set in a kitchen of a house. The focal point is on the foreground to clearly shows the adult's hand, the text lung cancer and the cigarette with the baby visible but out of focus in the background. This image catches people's attention and will make people emotional as most people have a soft spot for babies and they want to love to protect them. The lung cancer bottle and the hand is in focus and whole background is blurred.

First shoot
The Plan
I have chosen to experiment with both an anti bullying campaign and an anti knife campaign advertisement. I wanted to look at anti-knife because of the recent news stories of knife attacks in schools.
My idea is to show a boy holding a knife at another boy's throat and threatening to kill him.
My other idea is to show a boy being strangled with a school tie or for a group of friends to stand pointing and laughing at a boy on the ground who is upset. This would be a powerful image.
I also researched how to make a good advertisement and this taught me to
My photograph will be landscape, a close up of a distressed and frightened victim with a knife being held at her throat. Everything will be in focus so you can clearly see the models and the text on the knife. I will also experiment moving the focal point so that the knife in the foreground is in focus with the models blurred. I can them compare and to use my favourite shot.

I also researched how to make a good advertisement and this taught me to
- Catch the viewer's attention by using a striking image,
- Ask a question to inspire curiosity and make the viewer think.
- Offer a solution with a website to seek help.
- Use clear text that is easy to read.

Second shoot
I decided to change from domestic violence to an anti knife campaign after some research.
in the first photograph I got a knife and held it to the victim's body. This photo is in focus everywhere.
In the second photo the victim is killed by a knife to the back of his head. The blood spots on the knife are the victim's blood. This photo is in focus everywhere.
The third photo shows the victim being held hostage with a knife to his throat but he doesn't look afraid or upset so the image isn't powerful enough. This photo is in focus everywhere.
The final shot shows the school boy lying dying on the ground, his body has been dumped ready to be found. The murderer left his knife in the victim's hand so he can make people think that the victim committed suicide. I don't think that the image works because there's no blood and it isn't clear what's happened. The image need to clearly show the anti knife message.

The first 3 photograph show another boy's hand so it's clear the boy is being bullied but the fourth shot isn't clear as the boy could have just fainted so this doesn't work for this campaign so I wont use it. I feel these are powerful images because the boy looks in distress.
This isn't good because there are less shoots and there isn't anything to suggest what happend to the victim. also it isnt prayerful enough.

I have created this photo using adobe Photoshop. I have used a cloning tool make the same person 2 times. I have also used it to make the text three times to get the message across. I also used red colour because to me this represents murder.
Shoot 3
My shoot plan will include:
Location: field but due to weather conditions, I changed to the libary
people: Kasum,, Aj, Hilton
camera: school canon
Props: Camera

Worst shot
This is my worst shot because you can clearly see the photograph is out of focused and you can not see the boy is choking this looks like a dangerous situation which happened in a school library. To make this better I should keep the camera still and point straight at the action. I got the depth of field wrong in this photograph because i set . I set my aperture down.
Best Shot
This is my best photograph because you can clearly see the the victims face, he looks like he has had enough of getting beaten up. You can also see the suspect is asking for money while the other guy is choking the victim. I used a large depth of field, focus point is in the centre and I have used a medium exposure to create the atmosphere in the picture. I had kept all my settings on manual. I was also happy with that.Theses pictures are powerful because they are representing bulling and gbh also it makes people think about bullying and help them to stop.
I have edited this photograph in Adobe Photoshop. I have added text and changed the colour to red, as to me red represents blood and death. I have used a cloning tool to make the same person four times and repeated the text four times to get the message across.
I have improved this picture by changing the headline to something more subtle (Gentle and Soft).
Evaluation
If I changed this I would screenshot every step of how I made my photographs. I would also of make more details of how to do my shoot plans. I would also add more text and describe the image
Gallery of final images
Evaluation
The theme behind this is bullying. I have studied one photographer, Chris Thornton. I'm trying to create a message to help stop people bullying other people. Some of the shoots I have done turned out to be unsuccessful. I would do this all again to make it more effective. I have included text because my research also has text on it. I have used programmes such as photoshop and weebly to create my edits. If I was to do this again I would take more shoots and explore more themes.
